Inspired by 18th-century scientific illustrations and the Ocean's inhabitants.
As a child, I would study and illustrate and the waterproof pocket guides to fish and corals while sailing in the Bahamas. Now 24, I still find myself drawn to the illustrations. Caught between Art & Science, reality and the whimsical. I started painting with watercolors to explore the balance between pigment, water, and paper. After days of fishing, diving, and sailing in the out islands of the Bahamas, I would paint on the 100 year old floors of my families wooden cottage. This was a way for me to return to the ocean long after the goggle imprints left my cheeks.
